Answers to the most common marketplace seller questions on commission, deductions, payment terms, overselling, store rating, return rates and API safety.

The questions marketplace sellers ask most cluster around commission, shipping, returns, stock and store rating. The answers below cover the questions that recur most often in seller panels and support channels. Where figures can change, the source to verify them against is stated too.

What is the commission rate and how do I find mine?

On Trendyol, commission is not a single flat rate: it is set per category and subcategory, varies with your seller tier, and is published VAT-inclusive. The only definitive source for your own rate is the category commission list in your seller panel.

The most common mistake is adding VAT on top of the rate; that produces roughly a 20% double count and makes your profit look lower than it is. For detail, see the commission rates guide.

What deductions exist besides commission?

Four more: the platform service fee (a fixed amount per shipment), shipping (by desi and against the threshold), return costs (return shipping and any handling charge) and withholding tax (offsettable, so a cash-flow effect rather than a final cost).

Current amounts change with contract protocols. Verify the effective date before fixing any figure into your profit model.

When does the money reach my account?

The payment term is defined per category; most categories run on 28 business days, some shorter. The term does not change your margin but it dictates cash flow — if you work at high volume and low margin, it directly affects your stock replenishment cycle.

What happens if I sell the same product in two stores?

Write separate stock to each store and the same product can be sold twice, with the excess cancelled. This is overselling, and its cost has three layers: cancelled revenue, a performance score drop, and the effect of that drop on product visibility.

The answer is a shared stock pool: physical stock is held in one place and sales deduct from the pool. The shared stock article covers the setup detail.

Why is my store rating falling?

The metrics that drive the rating are weighted towards timing: on-time shipping, response time to customer questions and seller-caused cancellation rate. Product quality and reviews sit on top of those.

So the most common cause of a rating drop is not the product but the operation: a missed order, an unanswered question, or a cancellation caused by a stock error. All three are preventable with alerts.

How do I lower my return rate?

The three most effective interventions, in order: measurements (a significant share of returns are "not what I expected"), honest imagery (a photo that shifts the colour raises returns) and size charts (in apparel, fit varying between brands is the single largest cause).

To know where to invest, tag and count your return reasons for a month; let the data set the order.

Why isn't my product showing in search?

Check three possibilities in order. Category assignment: a product in the wrong category will not appear in the right searches. Title and attributes: if the words customers search are missing from the title, matching is weak; if required attributes are missing, the product does not appear in filters. Performance: a low store rating and few sales pull ranking down.

All three are within your control, and the first two are a few hours of work.

What should a product description contain?

Four things without fail: what it does, measurements and material, box contents, and any usage or care note. Keyword stuffing backfires; readable, accurate text always works better.

How many stores can I connect — is there a limit?

The number depends on your subscription plan and varies between plans. Current limits are on the pricing page; if you exceed yours, additional stores can be purchased on every plan.

Does using automation put my account at risk?

Automation running through the official API does not breach platform rules. The risk lies with tools that produce rule violations: fake reviews, artificial traffic, or bots imitating the seller panel.

The most decisive question when evaluating a tool: does it use the official API, or imitate the panel? For detail, see the automation safety article.

Is it safe to hand over my API key?

An API key is not a password; it is a limited-permission access ticket and can be revoked from the panel. A tool that asks for your marketplace panel password is not using the API — that alone is enough reason to decline.

Will my existing products be deleted when I set up an integration?

No. The first sync reads your existing products from the marketplace and matches them into one catalog. Nothing is deleted or re-uploaded; only records with inconsistent barcodes or SKUs are flagged for matching.

Another question?

Step-by-step feature usage is in the feature guides, and the general framework of integration is on the marketplace integration page.
